STOC 2009, Web site + prereg of papers

The STOC 2009 submission page is now up, here. [ https://secure.iacr.org/websubrev/stoc2009/submit/].

While papers are due November 17, you must submit an abstract by November 10. Please pass the word.

For those of you with an interest in such things, we're using Shai Halevi's conference software. I was going to go with easychair, but the one major complaint (that I'm very sympathetic to) was that they didn't allow as a default the use of scorecards for offline reviewing. (They said they could do something for us, but we'd have to pay for it.) Shai also very generously offered to help me out with everything, so we all owe him thanks. (But especially me.)

If you notice anything not working right with the site, please let me know right away.

Excuse my ignorance: what is "scorecards offline reviewing"?

In the olden days, we didn't submit reviews via a web interface, but had a text file (the scorecard) for the reviews which we would e-mail in. For those who have RSI issues, the scorecard was a much less type/mouse intensive interface.

On the other hand, it had its problems. One time I somehow hit cap-s instead of ctrl-s in emacs on my scorecard, so the top line said SSCORECARD instead of SCORECARD, and I didn't notice. After this, when I mailed in the scorecard, it wasn't being processed, since the parser checked for SCORECARD. And I was receiving no feedback regarding the error, other than that my reviews weren't being updated. It took a somewhat angry PC chair something like an hour to find the problem....
