It's always nice to see a computer scientist be on the list for an award that spans over multiple disciplinary areas. This year, we get to congratulate Dina Katabi for earning a MacArthur Fellowship. Dina's work focuses in wireless, but seems to span more areas than you could imagine. She was part of the recent team that came out with the breakthrough work on sparse FFT. She's done some of the most well-known work in network coding (XORs in the Air). And recently, she's been working on using wireless signals to see through walls.
The official citation is here. (Apparently, Dina is the "894th" Fellow.)

Doesn't deserve it when you stand her next to the likes of T. Tao
Hi Anonymous,
The awardees are a diverse group of great people who've made great contributions: http://www.macfound.org/fellows/class/2013/
Comparing anyone to T. Tao is not likely to turn out well for anyone. Please try to be more constructive when you comment on blogs.
Anon #1: I would disagree.
Not that T. Tao is undeserving -- he's a genius too. But I think if you stood the two of them next to each other, you'd just be overwhelmed by the collective intelligence in front of you.
I'm significantly taller than Terry Tao.
