Matt Welsh has what he tells me is his most-read post ever about The Secret Lives of Professors. I'll help promote it here, but save my commentary for the comments there.
FemaleScienceProfessor has had two great posts this week. Yesterday's post was about the Canada Excellence Research Chair program -- "to attract Canadian and international leading scientists" in critical areas of research -- that gave a lot of money to 19 chosen faculty -- all men. Today's post raises a challenging question -- under what circumstances would you retract a letter of recommendation?
As many other have noted, Martin Gardner has passed away. Here's his Wikipedia page.
As the 2nd Innovations in Computer Science page is up, it must also be time to remind people of SLOGN.
A blog post on the CCC at 3 years.
