Consulting

As I've probably mentioned, I generally enjoy my consulting work.  Besides the obvious remunerative aspects, consulting provides challenges, insights, and experiences that are quite different from academic work.

On the other hand, taking red-eyes and having to get up at 4 am for a 6 am flight to a meeting in another city -- both of which I had to do this week -- I could happily do without.

Shh... hear that? I'm playing the world's saddest song on the world's smallest violin.

Yours truly,

Anon: Totally agreed, that's the appropriate level of sympathy. Just pointing out consulting is not all happiness and ponies. And that I'm feeling very tired.

Maybe you should try moving into that new "passive income" thing. Have some students build a web-site to sell dog-food from a drop-ship center in China over the Internet. You get the same remuneration with less overhead, and the students get extra credit. It's a win-win!
